Have any of you guys had an issue with some of the latest releases of Mozilla being resource hogs?

I started to have this problem several releases ago. After surfing the web for some time, my system resources dwindle down to the point where I have to clear the Mozilla cache, if I catch it early enough, or just shut down Mozilla and start again. Sometimes I have to reboot the system.

The resource loss ONLY occurs when surfing the web with Mozilla. It does not occur when running large, resource dependant programs or when using IE.

I never had this problem with earlier releases and cannot figure out why this is now happening.

Running Windows 98SE, P3 866, 512 ram with no problems except this one.

    Any comments?

    Hi Evinrude,

Mozilla 1.4 has a serious resource leak, but the issue has been addressed in Mozilla 1.4.1. I would encourage you to update to 1.4.1

    Download Mozilla 1.4.1
    Mozilla 1.4.1 Release Notes

Mozilla 1.5 Final is due for Release in the very near future, and you may want to wait for this Release.

Post back with any further questions, and to answer yours: yes, many of us have suffered the resource leak, running Netscape 7.1 and Mozilla 1.4 . Windows 98 users seem to have experienced the worst of it. There is a workaround, but again, I would encourage you to update to 1.4.1. Not only is the resource leak fixed, but the Windows Installer bug is fixed as well.

    Ramona :D

Thanks, Ramona. I'm running 1.4.1 now and will see if it makes any difference.
