It is out. It definitely starts up much faster than v1.1( which is very slow). ;)

    Hi bluesky,

Keep us posted as you continue to use 1.2. I was hoping that Netscape would wait on 1.2, before releasing 7.01, but that doesn't seem to be the case! :(

Well. I didn't test anything just use it and so far the most apparent improvement over v. 1.1 is speed: faster startup, faster surfing. Actually, version 1.1's startup is even slower than verison 1.0's. :p

    re: tab browsing

A new feature in the already popular "tab-browsing ": You can set a group of tabs as your default which will reappear at startup, just do the following:

Edit --> Preferences --> Navigator --> Current group

    type ahead

Another new feature which somepeople may like it is called "type ahead find ". It is similar to when you use a search with "ctl-F" but it is more refine. It can refer to a link or a text. This is particularly useful when you are reading a long webpages with either numerous links or a long text page.

    link prefetching

Another new feature that people who compose webpages will likely be interested very much:

    [quoted]
We have a new features that utilizes browser idle time to download or prefetch documents that the user might visit in the near future. A web page author provides a set of prefetching hints, using the w3c standard <link> tag, and after the browser is finished loading that page, it begins silently prefetching specified documents and stores them in its cache. When the user visits one of the prefetched documents, it can be served up quickly out of the browser's cache. (See the Link Prefetching FAQ).
    [unquoted]

a couple of well worth mentioning features are " keyboard access" and "mail filter after the fact ". I had run into the need to use the later feature but no browser at the time offer it.
