    I downloaded the Mozilla 1.1 program on Sept 23rd. What I do not understand is if I have to apply patches or is it all updated from that date.

    Specifically, I am referring the the web tracking - -reference header.

    If I have to apply the patch -- what is the procedure? I see that it was fixed - -so do they put up a whole new download??

    Decided to go back to email with Netscape 4.79. I don't know what happened in 7.0 - -but after a couple of days I could not get any email without creating a new email account each time - -the sign up page would come on and I could not exit out of it. My old mail was always there - - but it got tedious having to create a new account each time I tried to access mail. I tried deleting and reinstalling the program - -but it happened a second time. I want an email program that works.

    I am using just the Mozilla browser.

    How do you stay on top of the fixes for Mozilla?
    Thanks donna

    Mozilla 1.1 (released 26 august 2002) does not include the security update you refer to.

    I believe the 1.2 alpha builds include it, after 12 september (or later, cannot recall at the moment). Of course, nightly builds are not recommended for daily use, as the quality is not predictable. I believe the next version that will include the fix is 1.2beta or 1.2 (final).

    No, Mozilla 1.0.1 doesn't have it. I don't believe there is a patch available for it. You will have to wait for the next release, unless you feel like downloading a nightly build (unpredictable quality). However, there is a workaround for the time being.

    Add the following to your user.js or prefs.js file.

    user_pref( "capability.policy.default.Window.onunload ", "noAccess ");

    user_pref( "network.http.sendRefererHeader ", 1);

    0 = don't send any referer header
    1 = send referer only on clicks
    2 = send referer on image requests (default, do not use)

    However, if any sites break, you may have to remove the "referer" pref from your prefs.js/user.js file.

    Yes, you can apply the patch IF you know how to compile the mozilla souce code. ;)

    Otherwise, waiting for the next release or using one of the recent nightly builds is the only option, besides the workaround.

    OK - -so there is no point in following the bug reports. Hope when they post another stable release we will hear about it here.

    Is there a special newsgroup for Mozilla 1.1 - -and am I right in thinking that it is the most recent stable release even tho Mozilla 1.0.1 was released later.

    Thanks for letting me know that I would not be able to apply the patch. donna

    Mozilla 1.1 was released after 1.0.1.

    Moz 1.1 - 26 august 2002
    Moz 1.0.1 - 22 july 2002

    N7 is based on Mozilla 1.0.1.
