    Hi
I have Windows 7 running on a Dell Dimension XPS Gen 3.

Can I move the hard drive to a HP Workstation XW6000?

Will it work or will I have to upgrade the Workstation from XP to 7 and transfer over?

The Hp XW6000 has 2 Xeon dual core 3.20 cpus' and 4 Gb ram.
    Thanks
    sedge

    Welcome to WindowsBBS;)

It isn't legal to do this....Plus the Dell DVD is designed to only run on a pc with a Dell BIOS.

    Hi
    Let me explain.
I have nearly a complete set of upgrades for Windows starting with DOS 6 and Windows 3.5 and ending with 7.
    I am missing Vista.
I was given the the Dell as it was not working I fixed the problem formatted the hard drive and installed XP.(I dumped my old computer)with my upgrade disks.
I then purchased the Windows 7 upgrade and upgraded the Dell.
The Dell is now playing up and I have another used HP computer with a XP licence.
I could upgrade the HP and authenticate it with Microsoft and transfer the files from the old one.
I thought if it was possible to move the hard drive and throw away the old Dell it would save a lot of time and effort..
    Regards
    Ken

You can transfer all the files you want...Just can't transfer a Dell operating system to a non Dell machine.
