Moved xxxx.s & key3 files, and renamed xxxx.s to signon3.txt (also tried naming it signon.txt) I get no passwords to show up. In fact, when I did FF3 install, import pgm did not even show NS7.2, NS8, only showed IE7, but did transfer FF2. Running XP Pro, AMD Quad machine. Only use one profile altho NS7.2 has 3 profiles (copied only lastest xxxx.s and key3 files)

    Welcome to the Forum, saww2003!

    saww2003,

I have posted the solution to your problem transferring passwords in the "sticky" at the very top of the Threads: Firefox 3.0 Tips & Tricks.

Tips & Tricks did not address NS issues!

    1) I had previously looked at Tip & Tricks, but it show FF2 files -- does not
address NS files. PS) FF3 copied FF2 passwords ok.

    2) Link "http://kb.mozillazine.org/Transferri...file_-_Firefox" does not work.

    3) As I stated in original post - copied "xxxx.s" and "key3.db" from NS8 profile
    to FF3 profile, & renamed "xxxx.s" to signons2.txt (also tried signons.txt,
signons3.txt) and now even deleted permisions.sqlite (copied hostperm.1)
Still does not show any passwords.
PS) Also tried NS7.2 xxxx.s & key3.db files with no success.

    4) I though Tip & Tricks imply having to delete the corresponding files in the
new profile. Do I have to delete all sqlite files? Not crazy about doing that!

The procedure is the same, and I added Netscape and SeaMonkey to the Title.

You're right, altho I did copy the information shown on the Tips Thread from that link. There is obviously a new page for that same information: Transferring data to a new profile
Firefox 3 passwords are named signons3.txt, and to succeed in transferring your passwords files you should either rename, or delete the existing signons3.txt, and key3.db files.

Note: do not copy hostperm.1, and do not delete permissions.sqlite. This is the "exception" to transferring files, as stated in the T&T Thread.

No, you don't have to delete any files. Rename the files instead, but ensure that you rename only the files you are replacing. If you prefer not deleting or renaming the files, simply move them to your backup folder for safe keeping.

It's a good idea to make a backup copy of your Profile before doing any editing.
