Hi cbumpkin. Did you figure out the answer to your question or not? I know you marked the thread as resolved but I figured I would ask anyway just to be sure.

No Mr. Omo. i did not get any response in about 3 hrs. and I gave up and signed out. I down loaded several old southern gospel quartet songs and other music links from You Tube to a thumb drive. they would not down to windows media player. they will play off the computer from the thumb drive but I can't get them to the windows media player library or any other media like a CD or DVD to permit me to play on my truck player. I need to put them in the library so I can build a play list to burn to a CD. Hope this clarifies what ai am trying to do. Can I do it? Thanks, Johnny Stepens, country bumpkin

Yes you should be able to do this. Just make sure you copy the songs from your flash drive to C:\Documents and Settings\Your User Name\My Music. Windows Media Player will automatically add any new songs that you put in the music folder to your Windows Media Player library.

You are using Windows Media Player 11 correct?

I followed your instructions exactly, made a new folder (Johnnys, music) copied several songs from flash drive, checked that they were in folder, opened Win media player, clicked library and nothing was in it

You shouldn't have to make a new folder. If you click Start< My Music that is the folder where Windows Media Player searches for music files.

Please be aware that we are all volunteers here - it is unusual to get an immediate response - patience is a virtue, but I would hope that you would receive a response within 24 hrs given that a BBS member has a solution to offer.
