How do you move programs around into various folders on the xp desktop. You could move them around in Win98, but not in XP.

I move items all the time. You should make sure you are running the "classic" desktop that displays My computer, network placed, recycle bin, etc. With this desktop, you can make folders, and move them arround w/o any problems.

On the XP desktop .. or the XP Start Menu?

It moves around like all the other versions of Windows -- click and drag, whether in Classic mode or not.

If you really meant .exe type things when you said "How do you move programs around ..." then the answer is you really don't want to go moving them around. They will stop running.

You prob already know this, but on the desktop (yes this works in XP HomeEdit too) try this:
Right click, then choose: ARRANGE ICONS BY, and see if there is a check mark next to AUTO ARRANGE. If so, click next to it to UNCHECKT it..then you can move things around. If there is a checkmark next to it, then it auto aligns folders and you cannot move them. :D
