I uninstalled XP SP2 because Windows Moviemaker wouldn't work.I thought that if I uninstalled SP2 and reinstalled it from the CD all would be sorted out.Wrong! I get a message on Microsoft Outlook which says:
CiceroUIWndFrame: OUTLOOK.EXE - Entry Point Not Found
The procedure entry point GetIUMS could not be located in the dynamic link library MSDART.DLL.
Moviemaker still won't operate and shows another error message:
    http://oca.microsoft.com/resredir.aspx?SID=105ftiBucketTable=1ftiBucket=34120500fti CID=1
This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Folder Options control panel.
I reinstalled Windows XP Home CD and put it as install to damaged OS thinking this should put all the necessary files back in their right places. The above messages proved me wrong. What do I do now???

    Moviemaker won't start.

Hi Hoot, I'm back to where I was thankfully.I went into support.microsoft.com/?kbid=87324 and downloaded two fixes (MDAC)2.8 and Jet 4.0 Service Pack 8 and this fixed the GetIUMS problem. Moviemaker still won't work even with a fresh Service Pack 2 download. I had another problem develop after this where trying to get on the web my computer would start IE but any web address I put in brought up another message which said " This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Folder Options control panel." I had a sleep on this and after logging in 3/4hr ago, I had a look in Add/Remove Programs and saw that IE 7 Beta which I had downloaded and used was in there but was not functioning as the browser. So I uninstalled it and now I can surf the web again. What's wrong with IE 7??? has it caused all the grief I've had?? I will await any further suggestions before trying first reply. Thanks Neil.

    Moviemaker won't start.

Further to my won't start, this is the message that appears on my screen

    Error signature
    AppName: moviemk.exe AppVer: 2.1 .4026.0 ModName: qedit.dll
    ModVer: 6.5.2600.2180 Offset: 0001 a513

I have obviously got the latest SP2 on my computer and it's annoying because my other computer has Moviemaker 2.1 in working order but the computer only has a 20gig HDD and wouldn't handle a 90 minute video 8 input.
Any fresh ideas as I've surfed so many sites I'm getting totally frustrated.

    Moviemaker 2.1 Does start!

I've just found to my amazement that when I clicked on Moviemaker in Start>all Programs, it started and didn't give me the message in my last Post. I've been looking at every possible way to avoid Hoots proposal and was checking all software and driver compatability over the last few days and about an hour ago I went into Tools in I E and cleared Temporary Internet Files, then carried on using the computer and before shutting down I thought I would check Moviemaker. As I said it started AOK. I checked in Control Panel>Add & Remove and noticed that a security patch was downloaded today (KB 918439) and I wonder whether this has been the fix? The only other thing I did today was to recheck the Sounds to enable default Windows XP Start & Shutdown music which had not been working. Any ideas whether any of these things could have caused "Moviemaker won't start?" I'd be interested to know if these little glitches are to test us or not.

    Moviemaker 2.1 Does start!

Thanks for reply PeteC. One thing I forgot to mention was I had on Saturday NZ time carried out maintenance of disc cleanup and Defragmentation. Defrag seemed to hang on 54 per cent for ages and I went to bed at 2.00am and left it to do it's own thing. I now wonder whether something was at odds in the defrag process as the computer seems to be operating quite OK at the moment. Neil.
