So this problem is for/from our desktop Vista Premium SP2 and it seems that Live Essentials was installed properly on our system. I was having no problems with Movie Maker of Vista when the update told me that there's a beta of movie maker available for download. I didn't download it because my current movie maker is fine not until I want to edit some clips and I can't put the videos on the tray where you put your videos and sounds below.

Do I need to download the "beta" from Live Essentials to continue using Movie Maker?

I can access the computer tomorrow as my eldest brother will leave for a 5 hour trip.

I'm glad I don't have Live Essentials on my mom's Vista Basic laptop. I wonder why it doesn't have the update on Basic, though?
Almost forgot, I can open the current movie maker on Vista Premium but I can't edit any video, I can put videos but not edit them. I have all codecs supported, though.

    Thank you for your time

If it seems to be caused by installing SP2, I would look at uninstalling it. You could look at reinstalling it again straight away and see if it works correctly, but I would be inclined to look around for updates for my drivers and software first.

Check in Control Panel -> Programs and Features for any programs that might do a similar job (movie editing?) and look for updates for that or just uninstall it if you don't need it.

I dont have any more movie editing programs as I have to pay for them. I'll be better to download the "beta" from Live essentials if I can only find the link or program in Vista Premium.

Any help on where? I'll try the search button as I type, Be back for any progress

EDIT: Just downloaded the movie maker beta from google. I'll install it ASAP

I'll be back for some updates

EDIT: What? It has trial version and mine already expired? I'm downloading the patch

I found the 2.6 for windows vista. I wonder which one to use - windows live movie maker beta or the 2.6 vista version?

EDIT: I can't use the 2.6 version as I can't put any media on it. I will reboot for just a moment to refresh Vista.

EDIT: That's weird, the one that cant be put on movie maker 2.6 was in the movie maker after reboot but I can't edit it. I don't know how to use the Live Movie Maker Beta. I better give up and use the one on my mom's laptop. sigh
