I am having a problem importing IE favorites from IE6 (cookies, favorites,..yada, yada) All I really want is the favorites. I have too many links to manually re-enter.

    The problem:
From FF - File > Import > Import Wizard. When I select IE, FF locks up and generates an error dialog box. Then the agent program sends the bug report to mozilla. I have rebooted the PC twice. Same end result.

Instead of the Wizard, is there another approach I can use to get the IE favorites over into FF bookmarks.

    Thanks

    Here is a further clarificartion.

I tested this on two PC's. The first pc was my win2k workstation, which has not been reloaded in 2-3 years. The second PC was a winXP-Pro.

    My workstation had problems importing.
The winXP did not...but it is basically a clean test box.

I was able to get the favorites imported, but only after some testing. The import wizard for IE wants to try and import this list all at one time:

    • internet options
    • Cookies
    • Browsing History
    • Saved Form History
    • Saved Passwords
    • Favorites

Troubleshooting this brought me to this conclusion. By selecting only certain items, I was able to import most of the list. The wizard still crashes when trying to import

    • Saved Form History
    • Saved Passwords

Which is really no big loss :)
It's a minor bug I can live with.

    Welcome to the Forum, 24jedi!

    Hi 24jedi,

I've found that Exporting the Favorites in IE to the Desktop, then open Firefox and import the Favorites from the Desktop. In fact I just did that on my daughter's PC, after installing Mozilla 1.7.

Glad your system worked for you.
