I have an ASUS F453M laptop, and have a problem with the mouse pad after upgrading from 8.1 up to 10. At the log in screen the mouse works fine, but as soon as i get to the desktop after log in, the mouse pad becomes non functional. I have plugged in an usb mouse , and that works fine. Has anybody else had similar problems.

    Cheers

Hi Graham, my HP 1000 Notebook is running W10 and the Synaptics Touchpad is working OK.
Can you go > Start > Settings > Devices > Mouse and Touchpad > Related Settings > Additional Mouse Options > Is there a check in Disable internal pointing device -------? Neil.

Neil, yes it was set to disable. I have unchecked it. I'll reboot and if all is ok, i'll mark as solved. Appreciate your help.
    Graham.

    Neil,
This did not fix the problem, as after a reboot the fault returned. The mousepad was disabled and the "disable mouse" was again checked. Windows 10 had installed a new driver, Elan Smart Pad version 15.8.4.3_X64_WHQL. I rolled back this driver to the original WIN 8.1 driver , Microsoft version 10.0.10240.16384, and this has, at the moment, fixed the problem. If it again returns i'll post again. Many thanks for your help, greatly appreciated.

    Cheers
    Graham.

Glad to see you have sorted your problem. Try and see if Compatibility Mode will help if it recurs or W10 Trouble shoot. Neil.

ASUS touch pad no longer working in WIN 10

    Graham
I have exactly the same issue, word for word... Windows 10 upgraded my ASUS touch pad driver to Elan Smart Pad version 15.8.4.3_X64_WHQL and now only works at the log in screen... where did you find the older driver version - i can only find that driver in bundles with crappy adware... any help would be much appreciated

dwt991: GRAHAM rolled back the driver to a previous Win 8.1 driver. Your system specs only show 32bit. So we have no way of knowing what your previous Operating System was when you upgraded to Win 10.
