    Good moring all.

I have two mice installed. One USB/PS2 ( Microsoft ) and one USB ( Logitech ). This makes life much easier when my Wife and I are playing games. All had been going well for quite some time.

I started having the problem of Clicking once and getting two. ie. I click on the favorite for this site and I would get two on the screen. ? Close one and the other was still there. I was blaming everything else but the MOUSE itself.

But I found it to be caused by a worn out device. The left button was not releasing properly. So I replaced it with a new one.

The USB mouse was lighting up at times just like it had been moved.

Every once in awhile the mouse pointer would start walking across the screen with me nowhere near the machine. Noticed the USB lit up. ( that was actully comical in away )

Before plugging in the new Mouse I went to Control Panel add/remove to remove the old software. HMMMM !! Can't remove what does not show up. So I just shutdown and removed the old and plugged in the new. Installed the new drivers, restarted and now the USB is lit constantly. So I uninstalled the new drivers NO HELP !!!

So now it is time to get serious. I did a Regedit search and found both Logitech and MS software. I had to use PowerDesk and MANUALY remove the various Folders. Restarted and :)-NO ERROR-:) messages but both mice worked just fine ??

Now I use Norton Windoctor and removed about 20 entries in the reg. Ran RegSeeker and it found 40-45 more entires. I let it removed them. Restarted the machine and ran various things to be sure all was going to be OK HOPEFULLY.

Next step. SHUTDOWN and Restarted System Restore.

Now I install the drivers from the CD that came with the new mouse. **** !! USB problems. AGAIN.

OK. Lets try something else. I went to Logitech and got new drivers. Unistalled the MS drivers.

Installed the Logitech. HHMMM Only the PS2 would work. Now comes the BIG surprise. When I restarted up comes a window saying NEW PS2 device found do you wish to configure. Certainly YES. Did the and then up comes another Windows saying New USB device found. Do you wish to configure. YES again.

Now you folks know darn well that this was not all done in matter if minutes. But as of today ( a day later ) I have not seen the USB blink or had the pointer walk across the screen.

Apparrently I did not have MSAntiSpyware running at the time of install. But when I did start it this AM up comes a windows with the message " AntiSpyWare has allowed Logi_MwX.exe to be added to the Startup group. It is not found to be SpyWare." That was sure GOOD news

I have now come to the following conclusions.

#1 Somwhere along the line my Mouse drivers got SEVERLY corrupted. ( The USERS' fingers maybe ? :( Or MAYBE some software install ? )

#2 Repairing problems like this are not alwasy as cut and dried as we would like.

#3 XP Pro ( or my machine/system ) likes Logitech software better than MS.

#4 MSAntiSpyWare must be doing as it was desgined.

#5 Also SOMETIMES problems are not where we think they are. It seems as though mine were due to a worn out device AND corrupted software. BAD combination.

And last but ( I THINK ) not least System Restore has been used to create a New restore point named AFTER Major Cleaning. I DO NOT wait for Windows.

Well I guess this enough space used for now.

    Y'all have a find day.

    Something I forgot

I now have an Icon in the Systray that bring up the info for whichever mouse I use to click on it with.

You want to talk about SURPRISE. Well that one sure took me by surprise.

This appears to be time well spent. Naw. Lets change that to IS time well spent.

Even our Tuesday evening golf with our opponent in Canada went all ALL the way thru 18 Holes without its usual hangups and restarts ( usually twice ).

No more blinking lights unless the mouse is actually moved. And no more pointer walking across the screen.

And ( for the moment anyway ) I am not cussing Windows XP Pro.

Could someone move this to a place where others can read it.

There are a couple of new post that I think It would be helpful to.

And rename it to refer to Mouse problems.

I should have done it in the first place.

    Thanks for moving.

I have already had to put it to use on another one of my own machines today.
