Mouse pointer tips

I don't know what the correct terminology is, but when the mouse pointer is over icons and some other things, there is small window that opens up with a description. This can be a pain in the neck.

Can this be turned off and if so how???

Killing Balloon Tips

Balloon tips have rounded edges and an X in the right corner to close them, but will disappear on their own, too. They drive me crazy!

An alternative is to use TweakUI to disable them.

I'm sure there is a regedit to do it, too, but I'm too lazy to look right now.

If you mean the square yellow boxes that pop up in WE when you pass your cursor over the files, that displays info about the file, there is probably a tweak for that, too, but since I find that feature handy, occasionally, I just watch where I leave my cursor.

Hi,
If you click start and open up the control panel, then open up 'Folder Options'. click on the 'view' tab and scroll down. Untick the box 'Show pop-up description for folder and desktop items' and click 'OK'
