I recently upgraded my OP to Windows XP pro from Windows 2000 pro. I have had a problem since then with the mouse freezing up frequently. I am not sure if it is just a personal problem or if it has to do with the new OP. I had the same problem a few times with 2000, but it was not as frequent.

I have also not been able to run java on IE since I upgraded. I have downloaded all of the updates from microsoft, but it is still not working. Is there a solution to this problem?

    Thank you.

If you have Sun Java installed, go to Add/Remove in the Control Panel and remove it.

If you choose to continue using Sun Java, go to http://java.sun.com and download and install the latest version.

    Microsoft's version is here:

Sun's puts an applet in Control Panel that allows you to disable its integration into IE, as does the option to set defaults in Add/Remove.

    Abraxas,
Is it okay to have both versions of Java on the machine, Sun and M$, or does that create a conflict? Which do you suggest running if the answer is "choose one "? You said to uninstall Sun, does that mean it's not necessary? I thought XP just knew which one to call on, and have both installed. Perhaps that's why some Java applets don't work? All the permissions in IE are there, and Norton and AdSubtract are set to allow Java, too. And yes, you are correct in assuming that I know next to nothing about Java.

    TIA
    Johanna

Yes, it's OK to have both. In fact, probably a good idea, depending which sites you visit.

MS will be the default if you go to the Java applet in Control Panel and disable integration into Internet Explorer. You will also find options in Internet Options in the Control Panel.
