Have Dell Latitude C400 with a busted USB port, and bad pc card slot. I want to use it just for games and internet stuff, but would like to have a mouse on it. It has a serial port on it (Comm 1) and I have an adapter to adapt mouse to serial port. But..... it does not work. I am wondering if this is a thing of the past, or if XP will support the mouse on Comm 1, or what. Does anyone have experience with this config? I know that mice used to be standard on serial ports, just have not done it in a long time, Thanks in advance for your help.

Adaptors are a hit n miss deal. They either work or they don't....But it can work....Might have to dig real deep and or find a friend that still have an old mouse.

Thanks for the info. In the meantime I have done a little research, which I probably should have done before, and find that not all PS/2 mice are created equal. Some are designed for serial ports, and actually are electrically different than the now standerd PS/2 mouse. Anyway, wiill head for eBay and find a serial mouse and hopefully take care of problem. Thanks again.
