I have a Windows XP Pc that works great. Problem is that when the Pc is on and not used for a period of time, the mouse freezes, but the keyboard work fine. I need to reboot the Pc for the mouse to work again.

I've tried a wireless mouse & a USB mouse and have the same problem.
I've tried different USB ports with the same devices and same problem.

    Need help...
    Thanks.
    Bill

Uncheck 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power' in USB Root hub.

In Device Manager. Right click my computer>properties>hardware>device manager. Click the plus next to "universal serial bus controllers ". Double click on "USB Root Hub" and click on the power management tab. Uncheck the line that says "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power ".

There will more than likely be more than one USB root hub. Do this for each of them.

Sorry for the short and rather cryptic answer. Zander has already provided details. Thank Zander.
