I have no idea what the problem is.

    Win 98 SE, Athlon 1400.

Scan(s) for Virus, Ad-ware, Trojans, etc. turns up nothing. Programs used to scan are:

    McAfee VirusScan
    Ad-Aware SE
    xcleaner
    a-squared

Also I use Registry First Aid and PC Rescue to keep the computer registry clean & tidy.

I've re-run WIN 98 SETUP with no difference in performance.

Mouse pointer continues to be "jumpy" and after 10 to 20 minutes the desktop gets jumbled up as I move the mouse... open windows move around, I can't click on anything ( oh, the mouse pointer sometimes goes away for a few seconds ) because everything moves.

I am going to try another mouse after I post this ( hey, I'll try anything at this point ) but if that doesn't fix the problem, what do I do next?

And what is the difference between "setup" and "OEsetup "?

Let's see what the result of changing the mouse is first :)

OK... obviously I've been spending WAY too much time chasing all the kids hanging around my house. ( At 1 point, there were 7 of them today... )

Changed mouse and all is now well. I SHOULD have thought of it before I started my post asking for help, not when I was almost done typing and worried that the issue was about to occur again.

Thanks for looking, reading and caring, Pete!

    You're welcome :)
Both the setup/installation executable file for a program - some manufacturers may prefix setup with something eles, as in OEsetup, see here ....
