Does anyone know how to keep the mouse from jumping around. I know several temporary fixes but nothing permanent.

    Thanks

Have you tried a different mouse?

What have you tried? What works and what doesn't and how long does it last? We would probably just go over old ground for you, then you will wonder why we can't give you a specific method to try.

Hi, sometimes the Mouse can jump around if the mouse pad is reflective, put something darker non reflective onto the pad to test. I had a Dell almost white pad and it was useless.

The Control Panel->Mouse->Hide While Typing option has been known to cause problems.

this is a known problem at microsoft and they have attempted to issue what they call a temorary fix unsupported. This fix does not work. the only way I have to fix it is to resync my wireless mouse and then it works fine for a while then it goes bad again.
i will try to remove hid while typing and see if this fix works. please try to keep up the ideas.

    Thank you

    Hi ronaldon,

This is obvious but just in case have you tried changing the batteries in your mouse?

If so does a wired mouse work without problem? Sometimes other interference is the issue, my kitchen is opposite from the living room and when the microwave is on the mouse and keyboard would go to sleep ;)

Good call wildfire - batteries is usually the problem. In addition to the interference you've already mentioned, I've seen similar behavior when the receiver is placed too close to a monitor.

    ;)

Probably suggested in the KB article, but if you have the mouse a rather long distance from the receiver the signal will be fading. If you cannot move it closer, you can get a short male to female USB extension cable.

Are there any physical objects in between? They work best on "line of sight ". If the receiver is in the back of your PC case, under the desk, then I would say that is the reason. See if you can get them closer with line-of-sight to test it.
