mouse freezing right after automatic update

Hi.
I get automatic updates.
Right after I shut the PC down (where it was installing the 4 updates) and started the PC again (cold boot) the mouse froze. There is no problem with the mouse.
I was using it and the mouse completely froze. The keyboard functioned and the only other abnormality was that it stated a usb device might malfunction because (I cannot recall why) it was not installed correctly....
I removed the updates from 3/11 via control panel but can I do anything else? I cannot remember how to restore the registry
