    Hi all, I need help.

Running XP with the same setup as normal, usb hub with mouse, keyboard and wifi stick from front of pc. PC was self build 3 years ago and has always worked fine. Today the PC froze after I installed Civ used to be on it a while ago and thought I'd have another go. Irrestarted as normal so no issue with a hard restart.

When I load up now I get lights on keyboard and from under the mouse until it gets to the Windows XP screen when they go off, can get into bios to make changes but nothing seems to work. If I try to get to safe mode it stops working and I can't even move to Last Known Good Configuration.

    Any ideas?

Hi Carera78, Welcome to WindowsBBS. :) I'm a bit rusty on XP these days but have you tried "bare bones" setup? Shut down comp and remove all peripherals/plugins/USB's/external drives/dual monitors. Use mouse and keyboard (Standard) only and Start comp and see if it will run OK.
Has the comp been cleaned out (carefully blow out dust etc.)
You may have to re-seat RAM and ensure all connectors are clean and secure.
Try my first suggestions one at a time - not altogether. Neil.

Thanks for the reply. That's what makes it so weird, mouse and keyboard normally run on a hub but even if I use them separately the same thing happens. They are the only things connected to the PC no external drives no extra monitor not even my wifi connecter for a few weeks. Will open it up tomorrow and have a little clean and play will let you know what happens
