I have an ASUS and it seems to be highly regarded. It's probably like anything else, when you get down to specifics, they all have their weaknesses and strengths. Here's an Asus tout that may be helpful.

    Cheers. :)

    ASUS ASUS ASUS!

JUst build a box like mine (see below) and you will be happy.
Envision Computer Solutions built my box and it works great. The only thing I would upgrade compared to my box would be the processor (the XP 2100 is the best buy now) and a Geforce 4 card.

I think more than 512 MB of RAM is probably overkill unless you are doing CAD. Buy a MoBo that can use PC2700 RAM. That stuff is incredibly fast.

Of course all this assumes that you are building an AMD box.

OK you want a class Mobo, then this is for you.
    "ASUS A7N8X Deluxe "
That is again for AMD CPU's
This Board will run anything from a Duron 600 to a Athlon XP 2800+ It will support DDR 400 and standard DDR333 and DDR 266 memory modules. It has excellent audio build in there is absolutely no need for a sound card. It can take the very latest graphics cards.
Dont know the price in $US but here in Aus. it is $300 so it should be about
US$150-160 expensive but I think worth it if you are starting from scratch

Schamish: The PC2700 RAM is faster, and its definitely cheaper. And the Rambus is for use with *ntel processors.
