Running Win 98SE. I encountered a situation where I had to hit the reset button on my computer. After hitting reset button, computer did not restart, screen was blank and I kept getting 2 BEEPS similar to that which a heavy equipment vehicle makes when it's backing up to warn people. I tried the reset button a few time with the same result. I eventually pulled the plug on the computer, left it unpluged about a minute. The next time computer booted up normally.

    Any idea what happened?

P.S. Prior to this, I had uninstalled a sticky note program from the Add/Remove applet, computer then froze which prompted me to hit the reset button.

    Motherboard is Asus TUSL2-C

Probably a POST (power on self test) error. There doesn't seem to be any standard but each system should have a description of exactly which error it is announcing with a specific BEEP pattern.

Below is a reply I got from another forum. I believe it's correct since as stated in my original post, there was a system crash just prior to this which prompted me to hit the reset button in the first place.

    Here's the reply:
"Apparently any other beeps than the designated video error beeps are attributed to memory/ram issues. Any other hardware errors would display a message rather than the beeps.
This would seem consistent with a system crash that required a complete power-off to restart the system. "

So far everything is running as usual.

Thanks for your input in this matter.
