   In have a Gigabyte GA-71XE4 motherboard with an AMD Athlon 900Mhx processor. I have just bought a AMD ATHLON XP2000 266Mhz 256Cache Thoroughbred but it doesn't work with the motherboard. Is there anything I can do?
   
   If I need a new motherboard, which one should I buy?

   Look here for the CPU's your mbo supports and here for mobos which support your new CPU.
   
   If you are happy with Gigabyte why not stay them - me? I'm an Asus fan.
   
   BTW - if you are swapping CPU's around don't forget to renew the thermal paste between the heatsink anf CPU each time.
