Solved Most files/programs will not open

[Resolved] Most files/programs will not open

While using Mozilla AVG opened and notified me that a "Trojan" virus had been detected, I chose to "quarantine" the virus, and ever since I have been unable to open most of my programs with the exception of Mozilla, and Open Office.

When I try to open files, I am prompted to "create an association in the Control Panel ", but when I go to change the associations, they are all appropriate.

I greatly appreciate any assistance or direction anyone has to offer.
