I was uninstalling some apps and noticed in control panel's add/remove component that prior versions of firefox and firebird appear to remain installed. If I uninstalled the old versions, is there any possibility of causing even the slightest problem? Maybe I should wait to do this the next time that I upgrade firefox or firebird?

    keywester,

Might be a good idea, because if you have installed one version over another, you would wind up uninstalling your existing version. As long as you are experiencing no problems, then I would leave it alone. On the next update, however, I would definitely uninstall all versions, starting with the most current.

An uninstall should have no effect on your Profile. Of course you make frequent backups of you Profiles folder, so no problem there... ;)

In the case of firebird/firefox or whatever, the newer versions require a new profile. This started with 0.8. I have Firefox0.9.3 installed, and 1.0pr which works from an unzipped file. If there is a .zip file I would use it any time, especially with such changeable programs.Unzip, and send the firefox.exe to form a desktop shortcut, and you are in business.
You have to remember that if you uninstall an old version, the profiles remain. In fact they end up in different locations.
You can just delete an unzipped file, but if you have no more use for the profile, you could remove it. But, keep the profiles for the rainy days.
