Since the subject thread is closed.

One question to Broni re: skipping updates you do NOT need.

What if I did not look at the list before I clicked on download and got the update for Office 2007 which I don't use....

Can I then remove it from the new name of Add/Remove programs?

If Office 2007 is installed, you should probably keep the updates.

Can I then remove it from the new name of Add/Remove programs? -> YES

    VERY ODD BEHAVIOR OF VISTA.

I have Office 2003 and Vista Home Premium DISABLED Aero.

Somehow, accidentally, I downloaded Word 2007 assistant and updates for Office 2007. I DO NOT HAVE OFFICE 2007 installed.

Then, without knowing what could possibly have happened since I didn't realize these updates were downloaded,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

------------- when I clicked on an attachment link to an excel work sheet, an aero box popped up asking me too buy Word 2007 student version !! The sender of the email attachment has XP.

So, I think now I know that un-installing all 2007 office updates is the answer.

No wonder so many people are upset with Vista and companies, too, see recent Business Week article......

Thanks so much for pointing me in the right direction.
