    Hey guys,
    I have my Comptia A+ certification and I feel pretty confident with my hardware knowledge but I would like to know more about the software. Is there a website or software or book that anyone would recommend to become more familiar with the current OS's ?

    Hey guys,
    Thanks for the recommendation. That is the book I used to prepare for the tests. I was just hoping for a little more on the "hidden" troubleshooting apps in the OS that sometimes I only learn about by googling the issue and reading up on various sites.

    Have you taken any college courses in computer repair? I ask because if you are taking this test with most of your knowledge about Windows being self taught then you are going to have a harder time. You should consult this video as well, CompTIA A+ Certification Video Course.

    Hey guys,
    I have not taken any college courses. I started as basically a hobbyist by building my first pc about 20 years ago. As problems arose I would research the answer because I didn't want to pay someone else to fix something I could probably fix myself. Eventually I was the one to build and repair and maintain for friends and family. At some point I had heard about Comptia and their certifications so I decided to give it a shot. The recommend book was the main study material I used to prepare. It just seems that even after all of this time that if I get stuck trying to fix an issue and have to google for answers that I am still finding utilities that have been there all along but I never had to use them.
