A couple of days ago I posted a message about my disappearing Address Book. I finally recovered it by copying it onto the desktop, deleting Netscape altogether, doing a clean re-install, then moving the Address Book back in.

Earlier today I was working on my computer when it locked up (I don't know why). When I rebooted, Netscape "lost" my Address Book again! It's there as abook.mab, but Netscape isn't seeing it.

    HELP!!

You may have MAPI problem here. MAPI is a system built into Microsoft Windows that enables different e-mail applications to work together to distribute mail. As long as both applications are MAPI-enabled, they can share mail messages with each other.
So it's likely that you have installed a MAPI-enabled program that has claimed the default status.
First go to preferences and find a checkbox for designating Netscape as the default MAPI program.
If that doesn't do the trick you can cure the problem by doing the following: Open your file manager and go to your /windows/system directory. Find a file named MAPI32.DLL. For safety, rename this file so you can test the following procedure before deleting it. Now go to your install CD and search for a file by the same name, MAPI32.DLL. Copy that file to your /windows/system directory.
Your Address Book services should now be restored and if so, you may go ahead and delete the file you renamed.
Some of the other MAPI-enabled programs that commonly cause this problem are Windows 98, WP, Internet Explorer, Netscape, and Microsoft Outlook.
