I am having a problem with my monitor settings. Something happened to my Lenovo and it went through the "repair" process. When all was said and done it no longer recognized one of my monitors (I had dual monitors set up, HP S2031 as primary and HP vs17e as secondary), the HP S2031. I forced it to reinstall the S2031 monitor driver and in the device manager it now shows an HP S2031 and a generic non-PnP monitor. It no longer shows the vs17e. However, when I go to the control panel display settings, the display drop down shows a generic non-PnP monitor and an HP vs17e. Can someone help me resolve this problem? TIA.

Try seting one as the primary & disconnect the other. Reboot and then connect the 2nd one & see if get some joy.

Thanks for the reply. No joy but I think it may have set me onto the culprit. I need to do more testing but I now suspect a VGA cable problem.

It indeed was a cable. Weird way for a bad cable to behave. The display worked, it just wasn't using the S2031 driver.
