Monitor Issue

My Dell laptop's screen isn't working... well let me rephrase that... it shows up right when I turn on the computer and I see the DELL logo etc... and then it goes black.

Now is this a glimmer of hope that it is still workable or is it dead? I turned it on and off several times and it showed up everytime when I started it.

Any suggestions?

I have a new desktop since using the laptop but thought I'd give it another shot as it'd be nice to be able to leave the room and work on stuff....

It's a Dell 4120 Inspiron, I believe. XP Op system and geez, I can't recall what else, it's not in my sig anymore, I don't believe!
