I'm a complete novice here, but if someone could tell me how to fix this it would be greatly appreciated. Every so often, my monitor won't revive after it goes black from inactivity. Usually I can just move the mouse or press a key on my K/B and it revives, but more recently, this doesn't work and I have to reboot. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Is the power LED lit when it is "asleep "? If it is, try pressing the Ctrl key. If it flashing or off, try pressing the power button once (quickly). It might be going into a deeper sleep state.

Look for chipset (motherboard) driver updates for your system.

Look at Control Panel -> Power Options -> Change when the computer sleeps -> Restore default settings for this plan, if you have not made any changes. Do a (few) restarts. Check if you need to make any changes in those settings again.

If you leave a lot of programs open or maybe just a few "big" ones, close a few before you let it go into sleep mode.

The motherboard may need a BIOS update.

PS try setting the screensaver to Blank and check it is not set to start at the same time as power saving settings.
