This does sound as if it could be serious, it's not unknown for CRT's themselves to "lose" Red, Green, or Blue and if it really is the tube that's gone caput it's a case of new monitor, I'm afraid...

however, there are several other possible causes for this which are nowhere near as serious - other (far less expensive) parts of the monitor can give the same symptoms if they fail, and the display card / adaptor can do it too.

Maybe your best bet is to swap monitors with a friend's, to localise whether it's the display card or the monitor that's at fault? If you can do this without too much hassle it would at least let you know where to look next...

There are quite a few really silly/simple/inexpensive things that can cause loss of R, G, or B, so don't give up on it yet!

    Good Luck, Hugh.
