Looking for some feedback on a FM56-FX modem.
Have a chance to get one cheap but don't know if it is a good modem. I currently have a Win Lucent modem which I have heard uses software to preform certain operations where other modems use hardware and are much faster. Is the FM56-FX the hardware version ??
I would also like to find software that will let me know if I have a telephone call while I am on-line. Any info about this would also be appreciated/

You didn't mention the brand of the modem. The model number sounds like it is an Acer (AOpen). If it is, I can say without reservation that I have had nothing but good luck with hundreds of Acer brand modems.

By the way, just about anything is better than Lucent and PCTel modems.

    They ****. Period.
No better than any other winmodem, and worse than some.
