I put this here as I believe it is hardware related.

I have a RCA Cable Modem ( ISP owned )

A Linksys 4 port Router with three machines and a Printer plugged in to it. And the Modem of course.

I have had this problem off and on for quite awhile. But yesterday it was just plain TROUBLE. The problem was the same on all three machines.

I would try to get to the Internet and I would get the message " Site Found. Waiting for info. " Or it would start getting info and then just sit there with the message reading " 2 ( or more ) items to download. And go NO WHERE.

I HATE IT when I can't get on here to stir up trouble And I am just HOPING and PRAYING that this post gets to where it is supposed to.

The last time I had this problem the ISP Tech tried to blame my machine. If just one then I would agree. But all three, I do not agree.

First off this AM I had the same problem. I shut down the power to the Router and the Modem. ( main source not each piece ). When I turned the power back on it took the Modem at least a couple of minutes to get back to a usable state. But when it did all is well. Or at least was as things are hanging up a bit again.

Again the message is saying " Site Found. " And just sitting there.

Also E-Mail checking is very slow when the problem exists.

Also last night we had to quit our Internet Golf game with our Friend in Canada because we lost ( or has very slow ) connection.

Any Ideas here so that I can either

    1-get ideas on what to look for and;
2-fine a way to fix it.
3-or get on Time Warner to fix it

I have to take my Wife to the Doctor so I amy not be back before 12:00 or 12:30 PM.

When you unplug/reboot the modem, leave it off for at least five minutes.

Might also bypass the router and only use one pc to see if the problem goes away.

Might also try going to a CMD prompt and type:
    ipconfig /release
    then
    ipconfig /renew

    Update firmware.

I had the same problem with my linksys router and I called the tech support and they told me to upgrade the firmware. After that everything worked.

    Thanks for the replys.

Right now all is fine. So I think I will leave as is till it acts up again.

Plus I have some house cleaning to do. I just found three low volt power supply plugs that I have no Idea what they are/were for or even where they are plugged in. And when I installed the last network cable I guess I was in a hurry. ( a BIG one )

So all in all I have what is ( or used to be ) called one BIG Rats Nest under this desk. I saw an Internet Screen flicker a bit when I was messing around.
That might be part of my problem too. ( loose connection somewhere )

Plus I am also thinking about an 8 port Router. So if I do I will do all the cleanup and moving at the same time. Unless I am forced to do it before.
