For some reason, I'm sure I messed up, my system comes up in "Modem on Hold" and I have to pick up the phone receiver, dial the number, and hang up to go on line. I haven't been able to find the place to correct the setting:confused:

    Can some one help?

"Modem on hold" is, AFAIK a feature of V.92 modems and will be controlled by the modem software, not XP.

Although I have a V.92 modem my ISP has not gone beyond V.90, more's the pity.

Take a look at the documentation which came with your modem - with my Zoom modem the program which handles this is called NetWaiting - look in Start > Programs for something similar.

Thanks PeteC. I didn't find it in all programs, but I'll dig out the documentation.
