Modem installation problems, can anyone help please?

Modem installation problems, can someone help please?
Every time I turn off my pc, my settings are not being saved I guess. When I turn on my pc I have to re-install my modem if I want to go on the internet because it is not installed every time I switch on. I was thinking this was because I had set my user data so I setup a new user account. When I switched on my pc and used the new name I didn't need to reinstall my modem. I thought great! I deleted the old user account and used the new one. When I turned off my pc then turned it on again, I had to re-install my modem once again.
I don't understand why this is happening and I don't have the first idea how to fix it. I couldn't find any other posts with the same problem so I guess it is just me being thick. I have tried everything that I can think of.
If anyone can help me I would be so grateful.
