I am using win98 SE and have recently got DSL. When I had a dial-up connection I had little computers with red lights binking in my task bar by the clock to let me know the modem was working etc. I know in XP an icon(s) show down by the clock but not in win98. How can I get the icon(s) to show?

I don't think you can. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong. Do you have a firewall installed? If not you could install Zone Alarm . It's tray icon will flash while there is data transfering. There's a free version at the bottom of the page. There's a lot of firewalls available but I can't tell you whether or not their tray icons flash in this manner or not. If you don't have a firewall you should get one of some kind being that you're always connected to the net.

Zander is quite correct. The tray icon you refer to is a modem connection monitor - and you do not use a modem anymore - lucky you !
    regards
