    I get this message when I try to use my newly downloaded Diskeeper Home Edition defragmenter. I had downloaded the MMC Install a few months ago for another application. so I went to my Download File to "re-unzip" it. I get the message that 3 files were successfully opened......of course I do not know how many SHOULD have opened. I also get the "registry repair and restart with a backup" message if and when I have to restart computer for any reason. I mention this in case it has any bearing on the MMC message I am getting.

    Before the install problem is addressed the registry problems needs to be addressed. Else, you install something, get a backup registry with the new install not there.
    The bad registry can be caused on by one of two things, bad ram or a bad spot where the two files of the registry are stored on the hard drive.
    I would first try this, Restart in Dos Mode and type this in at the prompt;
    scanreg /fix
