I am unable to run Disc Defrag. A textbox informs me that: 'MMC cannot open file C\windows\system32\ dfrg.msc This may be because the file does not exist, is not an MMC console or was created by a later version of MMC.' I am the only user of the computer.
I would appreciate any help. Thank you.

Hi, MickLey. Welcome to Windows BBS!
There are two issues I see with the path in your error message.

There should be a colon :)) after the C and there should not be a space before dfrg.msc

    The path should be C:\windows\system32\dfrg.msc

    1. Click Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools
    2. Right-click Disk Defragmenter and select "Properties ".
    3. Verify the path shown for "Target:" is %SystemRoot%\System32\dfrg.msc
    4. Verify the "Start in:" path is C:\WINDOWS\System32

    Microsoft Management Console

    Hello mailman,
Thanks for your observations. The Quote was from a text box, the errors in the quote were mine.
    The textbox reads C:\WINDOWS\system32\dfrg.exe.
I get a similar message when I try to access services.exe, a text box: appears with the message: 'MMC cannot open the file C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe This may be because the file does not exist, is not an MMC console, or was created by a later version of MMC.'
    Regards
