Can you have a SATA and a IDE drive on same Compaq machine. I want to clone a IDE disc to the SATA disc. Machine has a IDE 100 plug and 2 SATA plugs. One SATA being used for the CD and HD. Nothing on the IDE. The IDE HD would be the master and the SATA the slave, during clone if that is possible. After clone SATA would be master and IDE would be removed.

Or is there an easier way?

    Thank you

Go to the website of the manufacturer of the new (SATA) HDD. Find their "drive setup utilities" they should have instructions and a program for doing what you are looking for (their program only does a old C: drive to new C: drive clone, nothing more fancy).
