I've just noticed that I don't have any sent items prior to the begining of this year. Inbox has and I know I havn't purposely deleted them. Is there some sort of archive? and if so where do I find it?

Or is there some other reason

    Thanks in advance

There is no archive - each folder in OE is a *.dbx file which contains the individual emails, e.g. Inbox.dbx, Outbox.dbx ... the default location for which is shown under Tools > Options > Maintenance tab > Store folder.

These files do get corrupted from time to time and odd things happen, The standard procedure to fix corruption problems is to delete the appropriate .dbx folder - with OE closed - the folder is recreated the next time OE is started.

Folders should not be allowed to get too large - I prefer to keep mine ~5 Mb max, but have heard that 10's Mb is OK up to a limit. The larger they are the more likely it seems that OE has problems or corruption occurs.

I suggest you make a new folder and drag your sent emails into it, close OE, delete Sent Items.dbx, restart OE and drag the set items back to the recreated folder - or leave them 'archived' in the new folder.

Open OE up and go to Tools/Options/Send Tab and make sure that there IS a check in "Save copy of sent messages in the 'Sent Items' folder.
