Do these tabs become available when accessing Internet Options via the Control Panel? Is it a networked office machine? If so, you may find that access to these items has been intentionally removed. Which OS are you using? Have a gander at this article.

    Hi

" "Restrictions like preventing unauthorized users from accessing the Internet Explorer configuration, the Internet Option. Aside from customizations and restrictions, it can also revert back the default settings of Internet Explorer from customized versions of Internet Explorer." "
Please read all the help files

    So Dave download it
    Internet Explorer Personalizer version 3.00
I have it installed but by all means scan it with an anti virus program once downloaded once after install

Access Codes Software [ IE Personalizer ]: http://accesscodes.hypermart.net/product01.html

Don't worry about this " "Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0 Runtimes" "
Unless it wont install, then we will provide another link to a small
    download..

so download it close all running programs, install, be safe reboot,
    read it text files,
Basically all you have to do is set IE back to default, with all IE's and OE's closed( have any other programs turned off to)

on its toolbar first file save
name it to before, txt or anything you can remember)
go settings > configuration > restore defaults
then check all the box's and click restore.. then settings > set restrictions, click the no security button and close to be safe go file save,,

There is a glitch in the install-shield installer (not the program) so after install reboot,or use the close program box to stop everything except explorer and systray
push ctrl alt del at same time..then reboot(to be safe)
just in case theres magic involved

Dont mess with the other settings except maybe the title bar and logo
for the others that maybe reading I wouldn't recommend using with XP
    regards
    Lonny Spiffy!

    Dave

Well I am partialy wrong --since that tool was made before the privacy tab was implimented -I dont think it will restore that tab
    It can with security tab..
we can give a registry setting that will get it back , But I would try
reinstalling then going to windows update center..since you're unfamilur with regedit..
    Lets see what Brett recomends.
When you do it that way it in effect is reinstalling IE -(through addremove programs)-we can mark all the box's (even the ones in bold) I mark everthing down to including auto language.
You'l get messages that so and so cannot be installed becouse version ___ is newer that version so and so If youve been to windows update center,, By the way I would do both.

Are you the second owner of that PC, give some history.

    Lonny

Win98 is a long time ago for me. The following is for WinXP and maybe there is this item in the Folder Options for Win98. Shot in the dark?

    From Kelly Theriot's site http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_abc.htm

    Security Tab

    To Display the Security Tab: Start/Settings/Control Panel/Appearance & Themes/Folder Options. View/Advanced
and clear "Use Simple File Sharing ".

There is also this article from WinGuides -

... he recommends nothing because he doesn't know the answer!!!

It could be worth having a gander at this key:-

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel

and checking that the DWORD values for SecurityTab and PrivacyTab, if mentioned, are set to 0 (a value of 1 disables the tabs).

I fail to see how these could have "accidentally" been changed without Dave's knowledge

    CoolGuyDave Hi

Can you use the privacy tab now,if not maybe its hear
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Restrictions]
in the right panel if there is a PrivacyTab listed, highlight it export it right click and open with note pad -change
dword:00000001 is with a restriction 00000000 is without
then (save ) and rught click choose merge..
Atleast thats the way I would do it..

Brett do you have this extra key ----Restrictions
for instance this is SpyBot's NoBrowserOptions
    ======
    REGEDIT4

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Restrictions]
    "NoBrowserOptions "=dword:00000001
    ========
Yes Id like to know also

    Regards
    Lonny

I could be mistaken about this, Lonny, but I think that the Restrictions key simply limits access to certain functions whereas the Control Panel key dictates which tabs are/are not displayed. Try it and see ;)

You are right Brett (Of cource)

while I was there I tried to hide the privacy tab and was not able to, But I proved to myself that IEpersonalizer if set to remove restriction deletes anything in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel

Im done tinkering for today--later and thanks
