I'm having two problems with my network that may or may not be related.

My first problem is that all my dialup connections stopped working. It will get past the verifying username and password stage, then pop up error 720: Can't agree on a PPP protocol. I have this problem on both modem and ADSL dialup.

No problem, I thought. I'll just dial in through my other laptop (both run W2k), and network them. Now I'm getting this wierd selective web-access. For example, I can get the yahoo front page, and the autos.yahoo.com, but I can't get the yahoo shopping or sports sections to come up. I've even tried dialing my security settings down to minimum and disabling my firewall. The laptop that's dialing in (laptop#2) works fine.

I assume it has to do with my having a dynamic IP address on laptop#1, but for some reason the network won't work with static IPs...

    Ack!

Need more information to even begin to know what additional questions to ask or any sort of troubleshooting to suggest.

    1. How are your computers connected to each other?

    2. Where do you get your dynamic IP address from?

    3. Could you please explain what ADSL Dialup is. I found one reference to "a Dial-Up Networking Connection for the Diva ADSL USB" but from looking at details, it appears they are just using the DUN setup wizard to establish the internet connectoid and that no dialing is involved.

    4. It seems from your post that you maintain both standard (56K or something) dial-up and an ADSL account. Is that really what you meant?

    5. Did (whatever you have) work fine and then suddenly stop without any hardware/software changes? And did they both suddenly stop at the same time?

And please post the exact, complete ppp error message you are getting.
