    Hi all,

Not being exactly thrilled with W7, I unplugged it. I re-hooked up my system to the original configuration (W7 was the Master and main HD [XP] as Slave) and now the main drive won't boot. I get the error: "...Missing or Corrupt \Windows\System32\Config\System ". My Slave Drive (the one I replaced with the Master when I was using W7(and the one I'm using now)) boots perfectly and I can access the unbootable drive.

I tried to access the repair option, but it hangs on "Select Drive to Repair ". I have SP2 installed on the drive, but the XP disk is SP1.

I tried to copy the Config files\folder from the Slave to the Master, but it says it's in use by another person or program.

    Questions:

    1) Can I use XXClone to copy or write the Config file from the Slave (basically a working backup of the Master) to the non-booting Master?

    2) I heard of a program called "ERUNT" that's supposed to copy the registry. Can I use this program to "copy" the working Config to the non-working Config? I don't know how to use the program.

    3) If the above isn't doable, how do I get the working Config to the non-working Config?

Hook it back up the way it was - and install the following:

    VistaBootPRO - BCDEdit.exe Made Easy
    http://www.vistabootpro.org/

You should be able to fix the boot optioons....

    Hi Steve,

I tried using EasyBCD when I setup W7: It didn't work. I had to manually copy the three files from WXP to the root of W7 C:\ "” then I could dual-boot.

I just checked the boot.ini file on both drives and they're exactly the same.

I read about BCDEdit and it looks like it's for editing the Vista\W7 boot garbage. Are you saying that if I use this program it will fix the Config error\problem in XP?
