When I go to the CD/DVD Drive properties and click on the Autoplay tab and choose the "Blank CD ", the option to "Open folder to view files using Windows Explorer" has dissapeared from the list of options and I am trying to put it back but I don't know how

Thanks for the reply but the problem is not related to autoplay itself but to the options that I can choose to open that CD with (by the way I already have that autoplay repair application). A while back on the autoplay options for a blank CD I could choose "Open folder to view files with Windows Explorer" and every time I inserted a blank CD the contents window inmediately opened. There is nothing on that blank CD but I want it to open automatically so i can "drag" items inside for copying.

That option of automatically opening the CD contents with Windows Explorer has dissapeared from the list of options and the other options (to open the CD with some application or to copy the contents with another application or "do nothing ", etc, these options I don't use) So... basically I don't know how or why that option to open the blank CD with windows explorer dissapeared (but this option still shows as an option for other types of media like Music CD, video files, miscelaneous contents , etc this option is still there for the rest of the media types listed)

I am trying to RESTORE the Windows Explorer option to open the CD automatically upon insertion (without asking me what to do) and view the contents of the CD.

I took a snapshot of the autoplay options window (with Snagit) to try to upload here but I don't see any option to upload a picture here.

    I understand the problem now.

You can avoid this issue completely by using a "normal" CD and DVD burning program like Nero of the free CDBurnerXP. The built-in XP drag-and-drop burning utility is pretty lame compared to these.

CDBurnerXP general-purpose CD & DVD burning program; also burns ISO images

Thanks, I already have several CD/DVD Burners like Cyberlink Power Producer, Deep Burner, Isobuster, CopytoDVD and I can use them but the reason I posted this thread is to get some solution to RESTORE the "Open a folder to view files with Windows Explorer" option that is missing from the list of choices for the Blank CD autoplay. In other words I want things back to normal (as they were) even if this present condition does not affects nor prevents me to copy files to the blank CD or burn it using any other application. It is just a matter of RESTORING something that, for some reason, dissapeared and is no longer the main choice for Blank CDs

If all you wish to do is drag and drop, don't think you need to have the right pane; just drop the file/folder onto the CD in the left pane in explorer. You'll still have to rt-clk later to tell XP to write the files.
