    Hiya,

Well after about 20 days since last booting my XP home ed isn't displaying my modem or LAN icons. Haven't noticed any other symptoms... can I get them back w/o rebooting?

In the Control Panel, Network connections, Properties, there is a box that says "display icon in notification area ". Untick and re-tick. (I might even reboot in here somewhere if these icons are important to you) I assume you are still online even though your icons are missing?
Post back and let us know.

    Johanna,

I did this with no success, neither the lan or dial up icons are displaying although both are currently connected. Eventually of course I will reboot but not just to fix this thingie. Would still be interested if there's something else I can try though. :)

    Thanks,

    Marty
