I just got this new Dell with WINXP. One of the websites I visit has a list of links on the side of the webpage which look like buttons. Just click on one and off you go. With my new Dell, the buttons don't show up at all. There is a very very faint trace outline of them but that is it. When you move the mouse up & down them, you can see at the bottom on the IE taskbar the various websites that corespond to the button...

How do I adjust to make them visable? Something in Javascript or something like that?

Possibly a third party application. Macromedia Flash Player is an example (probably not what you need for your problem though) Check the offending website for any third party Apps they may require. Use Windows update to update your system as well.

If Paul's suggestions don't help, post the URL so we can take a look at the site. That may help pinpoint the problem.

devildog#4--Faint though they might be, what happens when you left click on them? Also what happens when you right click on one and click Show Picture?
Is this happening only on one website or many/all?

    Thanks for the advice...

I am at work now, so will have to wait until tommorrow to try your suggestions. I think it may be somewhere in
IE/tools/internetoptions/advanced/browsing...the only other thing I can think to add is that when using my computer at work (which doesn't have this problem), while waiting for these buttons or links to appear after going to the webpage, I see "applet" on the IE toolbar...

    OK...tried it and...

both left and right single click show a grey box real briefly(they normaly are blue), and then whatever link I clicked opens...

this is the only website I have seen this on.

also noticed that when the webpage is loaded (except for the box) in the IE taskbar it says "applet fphover started "....
    what gives?

    Found the problem!...

When I went to IE tools/internetoptions/advanced I found both Java (sun) enabled as well as microsoft VM (jit). I unchecked the Java (sun) and it appears to working OK....
