How do I get my system to recognize and use all memory. I have a compac 5000 with ME it came with 128 Mg and I added 256 Mg.
When I check system status or capacity it show only 256. I have verified connections and everything seems to be locked in its proper place. ? Help:confused: Thanks Dan

    Hi Dan Russell
First..... did you ensure that it was the correct Ram? How much does your Motherboard support?

Go Start.......then run. Type in: msconfig......hit enter.
On the General tab, toward the bottom right is the Advanced button, click it.
See if there is a check mark in "Limit Memory to "
If so, uncheck it or change the number to the right figure.

Did you see the new ram get picked up during the BIOS part of the bootup?

Daizy:confused: You don't suppose your village has room for two do you?
I did the msconfig and changed the number from 256 to 384 left the field checked saved and rebooted. Nothing changed.
Then I removed the Ram swapped place with the 128 made sure everything was seated properly and rebooted. Nothing changed.

I am assuming the ram is the correct one since I have experienced an increase from the factory 128 when I installed the 256. But don't understan why it is ignoring the 128 now?? So now what happens:(
