During start up windows displays a box:( A REQUIRED DLL FILE SDIE55.DLL WAS NOT FOUND) The day before I deleted some unwanted programs. I have looked in Norton unerase to no avail. I am using windows 98 2nd. Where should I go now? Tks.

Are you sure of the spelling of that file, as Google says it doesn't seem to exist.

    trying--No info on SDIE55INT.DLL either.
The fact that you are being asked to supply that .dll suggests you may have spyware on your PC. Is your antivirus up to date and running at boot? Have you run a scan with AdAware or SpybotS&D (again with latest reference files)?
Have you looked into Start|Run|type msconfig|OK|Startup tab to see if you have any unknown/unwanted programs with a check to the left? If so, uncheck and reboot.

    missing file

Thanks to all, I have just stumbled on to a soulation.
I entered dll file on my file search wich brought up a page full of dll files.
I then looked at all of them untill I found some starting with SDL--- I selected one of these and looked at properties it was part of a program I had deleted.
I then reinstalled this program and whould you beleive the error message was gone. now I will uninstall :) Tks .
