Im not sure this is where I need to post this problem but Im going to give it a try.
A friend of mine asked me to look at her son's computer (Dell Demension 2350) due to boot issues.
She did NOT have the Windows disk that came with the computer. She bought it second hand and never got one.
I ended up reformatting the HD and re-installing Windows XP Pro using mine.
The problem is, of course, the drivers. I was able to find the ethernet and audio driver but I am banging my head against the wall trying to find the Video Adapter drivers. I have already been to Dell, Intel, nVidia, Driver.com and a few other places that were dead ends. I did install a few drivers that I was lead to believe would work only to have the system crash and be forced to do a system restore (twice). Does anyone have a suggestion as to where I can get the drivers for:

Video Adapter - Intel Extreme Graphics
Video Adapter- nVidia Geforce FX 5500

The chipset in the motherboard is Intel Brookdale G i845GL

I'm at a stand still restoring the PC until I get this resolved. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks in advance!

If you look on the back of the machine you can get the service tag # and use that at Dell's website to get all of your drivers and any updates for them. Secondly, you'll have to figure out which video adapter you are going to use. If its the onboard adapter, then Dell's website should suffice but if your friend put in an FX5500, then you can get NVidia's drivers from their website.

Unless your CD was a Dell CD, you may also need a prayer and a promise to validate the Key you used.

    ;)

The reason why the graphics drivers may not install correctly is because the chipset drivers are not updated. On the drivers page that Pete linked to, the "Chipset Software Installation Utility" has a date of 11/25/2002. If you click on the information link, it says 6/27/2003, these are still both pre-SP2. In Rockster's Intel link, there are chipset updates dated 2004 and 2008 (the 2008 may match SP3) and it states:
Install the chipset updates before trying to install the graphics drivers. Me, I might try the 2004 version first, if Windows was running SP2.

Thanks... the chipset driver and utility file did the trick!
